History of KTM

KTM AG as it’s known today was founded in 1992 but can be traced back as far as 1934. Started by Austrian engineer Johann “Hans” Trunkenpolz in Mattighofen, the company began selling DKW and Opel motorcycles before manufacturing and selling their own motorcycles. Years of expansion and a successful career in motorsports later, KTM experienced several restructures because of financial issues. Afterward, the company steadily increased production, invested in research and development, and sponsored and participated in race sports events. Eventually, the company had a resurgence with its introduction to road motorcycles which still innovates and competes until this day. Today, KTM continues to expand its reach and penetrate global markets to countries such as the Philippines.
